Local directory & AI
The directory is the section guests open first. GuestFoyer uses AI to research what's actually around your property — not just "the 20 nearest results" — and groups it the way a guest thinks: food, coffee, attractions, shopping, groceries, emergencies.
How AI suggestions work
When you enter the directory step (or visit Property → Directory → Suggest with AI), we send the property's address to the model and ask for a categorised, host-quality list. Results include name, a one-line description, address, phone, and (when available) a website.
What the AI is good at
- Finding the spots locals actually recommend, not just the highest-rated.
- Mixing categories — a coffee place, a hike, a hospital — in one pass.
- Writing a friendly one-line description for each pick.
Where it needs your judgement
- Hours of operation. AI doesn't know a place closed last week — verify before launch.
- "Worth the drive" picks. The AI tends to favor close-by spots; add your favorites manually.
- Phone numbers occasionally drift. Confirm any number you'll print on the guide.
The "Suggest more" button
Each category has its own + Suggest more button. We send the model the names you already have so it returns fresh, non-duplicate picks — useful when one category came back thin.
Add your own
The + Add your own panel (available during onboarding and from the directory page) lets you type in any spot the AI missed: category, name, description, address, phone, website. Manual picks save alongside AI picks in the same flow.
Editing & removing
From the property's directory page, click any item to edit, or use the trash icon to remove. During onboarding, hit ✕ next to a suggestion to drop it from the list before saving.
Categories
The fixed categories (food, coffee, attraction, shopping, grocery, emergency, other) keep guest pages consistent. They map to icons and colors on the guest-facing page.
