Frequently asked questions
Do guests need to download an app?
No. The guest page is a regular web page — they scan a QR code (or tap a link) and the welcome book opens in their browser. They can add it to their home screen for one-tap access, but it's optional.
Do my guests need to sign in?
Never. Guest pages are public. Each device gets a private session cookie so we can count distinct visits, but guests don't authenticate.
Is GuestFoyer translated?
The host dashboard is English-only today. The guest-facing welcome book displays whatever language you write your blocks in — many hosts maintain English + a second language using two Custom blocks.
How many properties can I have?
The Trial plan is one property. Basic and Premium remove that limit — see Pricing.
Can I customise colors and fonts?
Pick one of four themes (Journal, Midnight, Coast, Nexus) — each has its own typography and palette. Per-property color overrides are on our roadmap.
What about pets, kids, multilingual disclaimers?
Use Custom blocks for any specialised information that doesn't fit the standard types. They render the same way on the guest page.
What does "AI" actually do here?
Two things, both opt-in:
- Draft for me on the welcome message and house rules — writes a first pass using your property name and address.
- Local directory suggestions — researches nearby restaurants, attractions, groceries, etc., grouped by category.
No guest data is ever sent to AI providers. All AI calls run from your account on the server, never the guest's device.
Which AI provider do you use?
We support Anthropic, OpenAI, and OpenRouter on the platform side. The provider is configured by the platform admin — you don't pick a model as a host.
How does pricing change as I add properties?
See Pricing for current rates. Plans are flat — they don't scale linearly with property count.
What's my data retention?
All your content (properties, blocks, directory items) is retained as long as your account is active. If you cancel, we keep your data for 30 days in case you reactivate, then delete permanently.
Can I export my data?
Email us — we'll prepare a JSON export of all your properties, content blocks, and directory items. Self-serve export is on the roadmap.
